Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition MLA and Congress leader, V. D. Satheeshan, today raised serious allegations of scam against the Electricity department in the Legislative Assembly today. He said that corruption amounting to Rs. 250 crore has been committed in the Trans-Grid Project.
There has been an increase of 80% in the tenders of Trans-Grid project. Satheeshan said that this scam was committed using the help of officials.
However, the Electricity Minister, M. M. Mani, said that there is no scam in the tender process of the Trans-Grid Project and the procedures were done under the authority of Electricity Board.
The Opposition Leader, Ramesh Chennithala, said that the allegations were made on the basis of evidence.
The Finance Minister, Thomas Issac, said that there is no scam involved in the project and that the government is not ready to conduct an investigation into the matter. The opposition staged a walk-out in protest against the Finance Minister’s statement.
Meanwhile, the opposition decided to go ahead and face the issue legally.
