BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan criticizes the protest and hartal against CAA: Says it’s a ploy to create communal divide

Thiruvananthapuarm: Former Mizoram Governor and BJP leader, Kummanam Rajasekharan, criticized the joint protests and hartal arranged by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) of Kerala against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019.

Both LDF and UDF together with other extremists organizations are planning a hunger strike on 16 December and a hartal on the next day.

Kummanam said that these protests by the Communists parties, Congress, and other extremists organizations is a ploy to get political gain through communal lines.

With these protests the conspiracy hatched by the CPI(M), Congress and other extremists groups are out. They are trying to spread communal hatred by spreading lies about the CAA. The parties are covering up the fact that the CAA do not in any way harm Muslims. They are spreading unwarranted fear across the state.

The former Mizoram Governor also said that the present NDA government at the center is only following what Nehru wanted during the 1950s. After Hindus fled to India after being persecuted by Pakistan, the then Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, wanted these minorities to be well taken care of.

In 1972, Indira Gandhi and Mujib Rehman of Bangladesh had signed a treaty in which it was stipulated that the minorities who had fled to India from Bangladesh was to be given citizenship.

Kummanam urged the people of Kerala to understand the truth behind the Act and reject the call to hartal by these parties.
