Pathanamthitta: The former President of the Tranvancore Devaswom Board (TDB), which oversees many temples in Kerala, including the Sabarimala temple, has blamed the Chief Minister for worsening the Sabarimala issue.

Former President of TDB, A. Padmakumar, has said that the stubbornness of the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, led to the Sabarimala issue getting worse. He said that he had advised the Chief Minister not to take a hasty decision after the Supreme Court verdict came allowing women to enter the holy shrine.

He said that he had warned Pinarayi Vijayan that there would be a huge consequence after the verdict was out.

Padmakumar was speaking at the CPI(M) Pathanamthitta District Secretariat when he made this scathing remarks against the Chief Minister.

The former TDB President also revealed that his tenure as president was not extended because he did not hail from Kannur district. The CPI(M) party organization is believed to be largely controlled by leaders from the northern district Kannur which is dubbed as the ‘Kannur lobby’.

He also said that he was sidelined in party circles.

This statement also points out to the dissatisfaction of CPI(M) workers and leaders from south Kerala who are not happy with the over powering influence of this Kannur lobby.

Padmakumar’s out pouring has begun intense debates in the communist party and disciplinary actions might be taken against him for speaking against the Chief Minister.
