New Delhi: The National Minority Commission has sought a report from the police chief of Kerala after Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in a Synod meeting detailed the menace of love jihad waged against Christian girls in Kerala. The Commission has demanded a report within 21 days and said that it will seek legal course if the demand is not met by the Kerala police.

In addition, the Minority Commission Vice President, George Kurian, has sent a letter to the central government seeking NIA investigation into the matter.

The Catholic Church accused Kerala police of not doing enough to curb love jihad carried out by Islamic terror organizations against Christian girls. The Church also said that Christian girls were killed in the name of love jihad. They said that the menace of love jihad is growing and leading to communal rift in the state.

The Synod of the Catholic Church said, “It is a fact that Christian girls in Kerala are being targeted for planned love jihad. The reality that half of the 21 individuals who were recruited from Kerala to join IS terror outfit are those converted from Christianity, must be an eye opener for us.”

The Synod also said that according to official numbers many girls are being victims of love jihad. These girls are used for terror activities. The girls are sexually abused and forced to convert after luring them in the name of love. The sexual abuse is recorded and the girls are blackmailed to convert. The police are not following the complaints filed by girls against this menace.
