Guruvayoor: Hindu Aikya Vedi took out a protest march in response to the Guruvayoor Devaswom Board’s decision to award the Njnanapana Award to poet Prabha Varma. The poet is awarded the prestigious Ngnanpanna Award for his poet which depicts Lord Krishna in a bad light by twisting many beliefs of common devotees.
The Hindu Aikya Vedi took out the protest march towards the President of the Guruvayoor Devaswom Board. Aikya Vedi said that the award was given to Prabha Varma for his services to the communist party. They have also demanded the resignation of the Devaswom president.
In Prabha Varma’s poem Lord Krishna is said to have regretted for rendering the Bhagavad Gita. Furthermore, he writes that Krishna had a secret longing for Panchali, wife of the Pandavas. His poem Syama Madhav is full of such denigration of the Lord.
Thapasya Kala Vedi also came out against the decision to award Prabha Varma. The cultural organization said that giving award to such a poem is an insult to Poonthanam, a humble Krishna devotee, who wrote the Njanapanna which praises Lord Krishna.
However, the Guruvayoor Devaswom Board is claiming that the poem Shayama Madhav is filled with devotion to the Lord.
