Palakkad: An Assistant Vehicle Inspector, V Azhar, who hails from Kutippuram. He was killed after he was chasing the truck that did not stop for police checking at a check-post. The truck was coming from Tamil Nadu with a load of rocks.
The truck did not stop at the check-post after seeing officials of Motor Vehicle Department checking vehicles. Once the truck sped past the check-post, Azhar took his bike and followed the speeding vehicle. He was hit by the truck when Azhar was trying to overtake the truck.
The truck driver stopped the vehicle and escaped from the scene. Though Azhar was taken to the hospital with grave injuries the doctors could not save him.
