Kannur: Kannur district Collector TV Subhash has issued an order to district police chief Yathish Chandra IPS asking to lift restrictions from non-hotspot regions and also sought explanation on blocking roads unnecessarily.
The Collector has asked to clear the roads from places that do not fall under hotspot category. The Collector asked the SP to explain on dividing the containment zone in the district when no community transmission was reported.
The Collector pointed out that ambulances had to be diverted as the roads were blocked and dialysis patients could not reach hospitals. He noted that the district administration had not by any chance decided to block roads at any meeting summoned during the lockdown.
The SP was questioned for taking such action without the permission of the district administration.
Taking the note of public grievances, the Collector issued an order to open all the roads by Wednesday evening.
The Collector has also sought an explanation from district police chief for his absence in the coronavirus review meeting and directed henceforth to attend all the meetings without failure.
