New Delhi: The first four flight with Keralites from abroad will reach Kerala on May 7 said Union Minister V Muraleedharan. Two flights will be coming from UAE, and one each from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The Foreign Ministry has been preparing charts to bring back expatriates for more than three weeks. The idea is to bring back all those who want to return to India from abroad with the help of Armed Forces in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Department.
The agenda has been in place since early April. The official announcement was made only after the Prime Minister’s decision in this regard. The first aircraft will arrive in Kerala within three days after the announcement, he said.
The Civil Aviation Department is looking into matters relating to the ticket prices of expatriates. Embassies in each country need to decide on utilising the NRI funds. Each embassy has the ultimate authority in that regard, added the Union Minister.
