Thrissur: A widespread protest has erupted after Guruvayoor temple assets got redirected to Chief Minister’s disaster relief fund. Hindu Aikyavedi criticised Devaswom Chairman for his vested interests behind the redirecting the fund.
The protests are against the usage of money for offered by the devotees for non-temple activities. The money donated by the devotees are meant for the development of the temple and daily rituals.
Hindu Aikyavedi state secretary P Sudhakaran alleged that it is a move to sabotage the Devaswom laws to shield the selfish interests of Devaswom Chairman K B Mohandas.
Devotees staged protests near the Manjulal premises and in the main centers of the Guruvayoor temple region. Similar protests were organized at various places under the aegis of the Kerala Temple Protection Committee. The committee said that it will move ahead legally against the government’s action along with expressing the sentiments of the devotees.
