Kozhikode: BJP state president K Surendran on Monday said that the Supreme Court’s ruling on Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram is a severe backlash to the state government. He said that taking the spirit of the top court’s verdict, the government should hand over the administration of other temples in the state to the devotees.
In a big win, the Supreme Court on Monday upheld the rights of Travancore Royal Family in the administration of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
BJP state chief alleged that Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran had no other option but to welcome the verdict. He asked whether Chief Minister and CPM have accepted the decision?
“Will the Kerala government openly say that its previous claim was wrong,”? asked K Surendran.
The ruling now calls into question the relevance of the Devaswom Boards, he said.
“It is not for the political parties to take stance on temple rituals and customs. The verdict shows the need for a politically free administration in temples all over Kerala,” said K Surendran while speaking to media at Kozhikode Press Club.
