Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president K Surendran has demanded that a case be registered against those who included Arundhati Roy’s anti-national article “Come September” in the textbook of Calicut University BA English third semester.

In a press release he demanded to slap treason charges against those who included the article in the syllabus, which is an attempt to create religious segregation on the campuses.

In the statement, he demanded that the article saying India was carrying out terrorism in Kashmir be withdrawn immediately and that the government be prepared to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

The article claims that suicide bombings in different parts of the country is justified and that India fought against Pakistan in Kargil. The article further questions India’s nuclear experiments and large dams. From where did the education department take bribe to teach students of Kerala with such an article, Surendran asked.

Surendran pointed out that the aim of the textbook, which openly accuses Hindus of practicing fascism in India, is to divide campuses in the name of religion.

Surendran asked how such a textbook could be taught to those respecting the brave soldiers who fought valiantly against the enemy believing that Kashmir was an integral part of the country. He further demanded to arrest those responsible for including an article that defends even Al-Qaeda.

In the beginning of the article, the editor introduces Arundhati Roy as a person who reacted against the defamation suffered to Indian democracy over hanging Kashmiri separatist Afzal Guru.

BJP will stage strong protest and proceed with legal procedures, Surendran added.
