Kerala records highest-ever single day spike of 2333 cases of COVID-19

Thiruvananthapuram: The state reported highest ever single day jump of 2333 cases of coronavirus today, informed Health Minister K K Shailja. At the same time 1,217 samples tested negative for coronavirus.

This is the first time that the state has registered more than 2000 cases.

The state recorded 7 deaths due to coronavirus today.

Thiruvananthapuram recorded the maximum with 540 cases, followed by Malappuram 322, Alappuzha 253, Ernakulam 230, Kottayam 203, Kasaragod 174, Kannur 126, Thrissur 97, Pathanamthitta 87, Kozhikode 78, Kollam 77, Palakkad 65, Idukki 64, Wayanad 17.

Of these confirmed cases, 60 arrived from abroad while 98 from other states. 2,151 infected through local transmission.

The testing facilities have been ramped by the government. In the last 24 hours, 34,291 samples were tested. Thereby so far 12,76,358 samples have been tested in the state.

The situation due to coronavirus outbreak is getting worsened in Kerala.
