Thiruvananthapuram: Following the arrest of three al-Qaeda terrorists from Perumbavoor, BJP state president K Surendran said that the presence of terrorists from proscribed terror outfit in the state is worrisome.

He said it was the negligence of the warning given by the BJP that Kerala was a safe haven for terrorists. Surendran was speaking at a press conference held in Thiruvananthapuram.

“In Kerala, the extremist terror organisations had rooted its deep influence. The Central government and the United Nations had issued the warning a month ago. Neither any action was taken in the backdrop of UN’s warning nor the state government pay attention to the warnings of intelligence agencies,” he said.

“There is also an existence of terrorism in the state cabinet. A minister in Kerala was earlier an SDPI activist. KT Jaleel has not abandoned his old links either,” Surendran said.

He alleged that the state government had conspired to recruit people with such links, including C Apat, and to carry out terrorist activities in Kanakamalai. There was also no action taken against the presence of terrorism in the Kerala police.

Surendran asserted that the CPM and the Congress were taking a political stand to help the terrorists.
The Kerala has a polictics to promote terrorism. It gives the impression that Muslims are being chased in Kerala. The state is creating fertile ground for religious terrorism.

Surendran alleged that thousands of people were included in the voter list from the Perumbavoor area, including those from Bangladesh. He said the government wanted to wipe out the gold smuggling case and that the CPM was campaigning to include Muslims in cases where even they are not interested.
