Thiruvanthapuram: Educational institutions will be opened in phases, says Education Minister V Shivankutty. The decision will be taken after recommendations from Center and Expert committee. Online learning is not permanent. After receiving approval from Center, schools will be opened and also students will be vaccinated.

Online learning is resulting in health problems in students. 36 percent students have headaches and neck pain. 28 percent students have eye problem. Only 25 percent students do exercise, minister said in assembly. Programs will be implemented to encourage students in activities such as kitchen garden, maths lab and garden at home.

Measures are in progress to open schools to function normally. Two suggestions are in place. One is to open classes for older students. There is another suggestion for government that it is good to start classes for young students. Students between 1st and 3rd standard have more immunity according to studies.

Covid relaxations in the state will come into effect from today. Beaches and tourist centers will open from today. Banks and other business institutions will function six days in a week. Government offices will function five days in a week. More relaxations have come into effect as Onam festivities are nearing.
