Kozhikode: A migrant worker from West Bengal, Mustaq Sheik, was caught after he tried to kidnap a seven-year child at Nadapuram.
The child and his brother were returning home after visiting their relative’s home. Mustaq Sheik tried to kidnap the boy while the children were walking through a narrow by road. He grabbed the child and covered his mouth.
The boy’s brother, who was walking behind, saw this and made noise. This alerted the people nearby and they rushed to help. However, seeing the commotion, Mustaq Sheik let go off the child and quickly escaped.
However, the locals continued their search of the culprit in the nearby areas. He was spotted one kilometer away and was apprehended by the local people. Mustaq was then handed over to the police.
The police said that the accused is not responding clearly to their questions and kept contradicting whatever he was saying. It is believed that his relatives are also working at Nadapuram and the police hope to get more information from them.
The Nadapuram police said that a detailed investigation is being carried out.
