Malappuram: A youth slit his own throat after he attacked a lady with a knife in a running bus at Malappuram. Both of them have been admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College. The victims Sita, a native of Gudaloor was attacked by Sanil, who hails from Wayanad. The condition of Sanil is said to be serious.
The incident occurred last night at 11.15 in the KSRTC Swift bus. Sita boarded the bus from Angamali. Sanil who had boarded the bus from Edapal, had a knife in his bag with which he attacked Sita. After attacking the woman, Sanil used the knife to slit his own throat.
The bus employees and other passengers took both of them to a private hospital. After Sanil’s injury was found to be serious he was transferred to the Kozhikode Medical College. Sita, who sustained cuts to her chest, was also taken to Kozhikode Medical College even though her injuries were not that serious.
The police said that Sanil and Sita used to know each other for the past two years. Sanil had boarded the bus with the intention to attack Sita. Before the attack both of them sat together at a middle seat of the bus.
The bus employees said that both of them had a quarrel while sitting there. At Kottackal both of them were told to sit at the back seat of the bus. Once the lights were switched off Sanil took the knife and attacked Sita several times. The knife was thrown out after the attack. The police informed that none of their relatives or friends was on the bus.
