Malappuram: Bihar native, Rajesh Manchi, who was lynched by a group of people, at Kondotty in Malappuram, had sustained serious wounds on his body, which led to his death. Malappuram SP, Sujit Das, said that Manchi was tortured and questioned for two and a half hours. Nine persons have been arrested for the crime.

Manchi’s death is confirmed due to being beaten by a group of people. His body bore injury marks at many places. His ribs were broken after being assaulted with sticks and pipes.

The incident occurred at Alavi’s house. It is believed that Rajesh Manchi had reached the house for stealing. He was subsequently caught by the members of the house and neighbors. Manchi was questioned for two and a half hours while being beaten up brutally.

At first the news spread that Manchi had died of wounds when he fell from the terrace. However, the postmortem report showed that the cause of death was from beating. A special investigation team has been constituted to probe into the death.
