Shaheen Bagh resident found hanging in hotel room in Kochi after his son was summoned by NIA for questioning in train burning case

Kochi: Reports say that a Shaheen Bagh resident was found hanging at a hotel room in Kochi. The deceased, Muhammad Shafi, had accompanied his son Muhammad Monis, who was summoned by the NIA for questioning in the train burning case in Kerala.

Muhammad Shafi was found hanging in the washroom of the hotel room where he was lodging with his son. The Kochi South Police have begun an investigation into it. The body has been taken for postmortem.

Muhammad Shafi’s son Muhammad Monis was questioned by the NIA for his links with the Sharukh Saifi, who had poured petrol on passengers on a moving train at Elathur and had set fire. Three persons, who jumped out of the train in panic, had died, including an infant.

The security forces tracked Sharukh Saifi and caught him from Maharashtra. He is a resident of Shaheen Bagh and is believed to have terror links. The NIA had raided his home and other ten locations at Shaheen Bagh in connection with the train arson case.
