Kochi: A foreign woman has been detained at the Cochin International Airport after she was found carrying 1 kg of heroin. The woman had reached Kochi from Sharjah on an Air Arabia flight early morning at 3.10 am.
The woman was nabbed after DRI received a tip off of the drug smuggling. It is believed that the lady flew to Kochi from Kenya via Sharjah. However, the DRI is silent over other information regarding the drug haul.
The officials said that the law enforcement agencies view the arrest of the foreign lady for drug smuggling as a very serious matter and clarified that there will be more investigations into it.
A few weeks back Rs.25,000 crore worth of drugs were confiscated by Indian Navy and NCB from a boat off the Kochi coast.
