Thiruvananthapuram: The police have got a breakthrough in the case of suicide of Asmiya mol at a madrasa in Balaramapuram. According to the postmortem report, Asmiya mol was sexually abused. However, the police say that the abuse occurred before she joined the madrasa.

The police have arrested Hashim Khan, a native of Poonthura, for abusing the girl and have slapped a POCSO case against him.

Asmiya mol, who was a native of Beemapally, stayed at the madrasa at Balaramapuram and was pursuing her studies. She was found hanging on 13th of this month. Asmiya mol had called up her mother, Rahmath, and had requested her to come and take Asmiya back home.

Rahmath rushed to the madrasa within one-and-a-half hour. The madrasa authorities did not let her see Asmiya mol initially. When criticisms arose, the authorities informed the relatives that Asmiya mol had committed suicide.

Following Asmiya’s death, huge criticisms were raised against Al Aman Charitable Trust at Balaramapuram by her relatives. Her relatives had accused that Asmiya mol had committed suicide due to the mental torture by those at the institution. Her family specifically accused an Ustad and a teacher for harassing her.

Asmiya mol’s classmates had given the statement to the police that she had promised not to return to the madrasa after the Bakrid holidays.
