Thiruvananthapuram: The police have spoken with the second accused in the fake certificate case, Abin C Raj, who is currently working in Maldives. The police contacted Abin through one of his friends’ phone. The police will release a red corner notice against Abin.
Meanwhile, the investigation team will take SFI leader Nikhil Thomas for evidence collection today. According to Nikhil’s statement, he had thrown his mobile phone into the Karipuzha Lake. The investigation team will also collect evidence from Orion, an institution in Ernakulam that arranged the fake certificate.
Nikhil Thomas, who was accused in a forgery case, was arrested by the police the other day. He was on his way to Kottarakkara from Kottayam when the police apprehended him. He had forged a fake degree certificate and submitted it at the MSM College in Kayamkulam to gain admission to the MCom program.
Nikhil was a degree student at the MSM College and had failed in his degree course. It is alleged that he gave Rs.2 lakhs to Abin C Raj to get a degree certificate from Kalinga University. Nikhil says that it was through Abin that he obtained the degree certificate.
