Kochi: A report said that the Kerala BJP President, K Surendran, while speaking to media persons pointed out that many Congress leaders are supportive of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) at the national level. He also added that the CPI(M) had once strongly campaigned for the implementation of the UCC, which was put forward as an effort to reform archaic laws.
The BJP leader also accused the CPI(M) and Congress of trying to appease communal forces for vote bank politics by opposing the UCC. He said that it is a very calculated move.
K Surendran, said the report, unequivocally pointed out that both the Congress and Left fronts are trying for communal polarization in Kerala. The BJP will campaign against this. A major portion of the Muslim community is in favour of the UCC.
He added that a huge number of Muslim parents want to equally share their property to their own daughters. There are also those in Muslim community who took a strong stand against triple talaq. The UDF and LDF are trying to mislead them.
