KOCHI: According to news sources it is reported that in response to recent allegations of drug related incidents during film shootings, the police department is set to implement a new requirement for “police clearance” for individuals working in the film industry. While candidates in various other fields already undergo Police Clearance, this decision aims to address the specific concerns raised within the film sector.

The producers’ association has expressed their support for this initiative, commending Kochi City Police Commissioner K. Sethu Raman for his proactive approach. Commissioner Sethu Raman emphasized that film technicians and actors often work with different assistants on a daily basis, making it difficult to keep track of their identities and background information accurately.

To address this issue, he proposed that individuals working on film sets should obtain police clearance certificates from their respective stations.

The film producers association has responded favorably to the Commissioner’s suggestion, acknowledging the need for a more structured and accountable system within the industry.

By requiring police clearance, the aim is to ensure a safer and more transparent working environment for everyone involved in the film production process.
