KOCHI: In a significant development, the Kochi NIA Special Court Judge has delivered the verdict in the case concerning the chopping of Prof. T.J Joseph’s hand. The incident occurred on July 4, 2010, in Thodupuzha, allegedly in response to the professor’s inclusion of a question in an internal examination paper at Newman College, which was perceived as blasphemous towards the Prophet.
During the horrific incident, terrorists associated with the Popular Front assaulted Prof. TJ Joseph, severing his right hand and stabbing him in the left leg in front of his family while on route to the church.
The court has identified six individuals as the accused in the case, with Sajil, Nasar and Najeeb being sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for their involvement. Noushad, Moydheen Kunju, and Ayoob have been sentenced to three years of imprisonment. The court also stated that a clear act of terrorism has taken place.
