Alappuzha: The mascot for the 69th Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR) was revealed. It is an adorable elephant calf rowing a boat with NTBR 69 oar. In an event held at the collectorate conference hall, the mascot for the upcoming 69th Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR) was unveiled. This year’s mascot features a charming elephant calf skillfully rowing through the waters on a boat, with the NTBR 69 prominently displayed on the oar.
The unveiling ceremony was graced by Kuttanad MLA Thomas K Thomas and cine-serial actress Gayathri Arun, who jointly presented the mascot to district collector Haritha V Kumar, also the chairperson of the NTBR society. During the function, actress Gayathri Arun expressed her nostalgia and shared cherished childhood memories of the boat race.
There were several other distinguished guests at the event including Municipal Councillor Simi Shafikhan and Sub-collector Suraj Shaji, who also holds the position of NTBR society secretary.
Artist Devaprakash, hailing from Idukki district, became the fortunate designer of this year’s mascot. For his remarkable creation, he will be rewarded with a prize of Rs 5,001. The mascot was selected from a pool of 250 entries received through a state-wide competition organized by the Nehru Trophy Publicity Committee. The esteemed jury, consisting of artists Satheesh Vazhavelil, Cyril Dominic, and T Baby, had the responsibility of choosing the winner.
