Thrissur: Anjana George, a film and media activist, has filed a complaint against Kerala Kalamandalam, alleging mistreatment during her participation as an invited guest in one of their workshops. The workshop centered on crucial topics like the prevention of violence against women and gender sensitivity and also featured a screening of a documentary made by Anjana.
However, the organizers failed to ensure the timely screening of the documentary, leading to frustration on Anjana’s part. When she inquired about the delay, some students from the organizing committee responded with disrespectful behavior towards her. As a result of this unpleasant encounter, Anjana chose to leave the workshop to avoid potential conflicts. Following the incident, the students pursued Anjana, demanding an apology from her. They stopped her car and attempted to attack her. According to Anjana, the students used the phrase “Inquilab Zindabad” during the confrontation.
The workshop, presided over by Harish Sadhani, Co-Founder, and Executive Director of Mumbai-based ICC, was also tarnished by allegations from Anjana. She claimed that the workshop lacked proper technical preparation, leading to the mismanagement and delays, including the screening of her documentary.
Overall, Anjana’s complaints point to a distressing situation involving the students’ actions and the apparent lack of adequate preparation during the organization of the workshop.
