Thiruvananthapuram: Keltron has demanded that the government cover the expenses for repairing AI cameras. They also insisted that the government take responsibility for any liabilities arising during the replacement of cameras as part of road development.

Meanwhile, the deadline for Keltron to submit a draft of a comprehensive agreement regarding AI cameras is ending this month. Keltron also needs to find funds for repairs, which adds to their financial burden in maintaining the AI cameras. Consequently, Keltron has put forth a demand, requesting that the government cover the costs of repairs. They also demanded the government’s commitment to take responsibility for all liabilities incurred during camera replacements as part of road development. These provisions are now being requested by Keltron to be included in the new contract for the installation of cameras on the road.

Earlier, the government had made it clear that they would not cover the expenses for the 57 cameras that got damaged during their relocation as part of the road development project. In response to this situation, Keltron decided to include a condition in the contract, stating that the government should bear the cost of these cameras. The replacement of a single camera had cost Keltron Rs 50,000, and so far, they have incurred an additional expense of Rs 23 lakhs. Unfortunately, the government has stated that they will not reimburse this amount to Keltron. Furthermore, the government has requested Keltron to submit a draft of the comprehensive agreement concerning the AI cameras before the end of this month.
