THRISSUR: Reports from a media outlet says that the Malayali terrorist Ashif, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency has now revealed that terrorists have turned Veerappan’s hideouts into IS training centers. Ashif was arrested by the NIA from Sathyamangalam Thottampalayam in Tamil Nadu, for his involvement in raising funds to promote ISIS activities in Kerala. In response to this alarming information, the NIA team from Kochi conducted extensive search operations in both Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Earlier, reports had come out that the Popular Front of India (PFI) were conducting training activities in the forest regions of Kanakamala, Pathanamthitta, and Vagamon. It was also found that, there were plans to attack RSS leaders and certain NIA officials in Ernakulam.

There are indications that Malayali terrorists who have shown allegiance to the Islamic State received weapons training in Syria. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) also received information suggesting that the Kerala unit of these terrorists had been in communication with leaders of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan. Further investigations have revealed that this terror group utilizes secure telegram groups as a means of communication amongst themselves. Authorities are actively conducting investigations to identify and apprehend individuals with whom this group had contacts.

NIA had conducted the raids on the basis of information received from Ashif. NIA officials said that the aim of the accused was to spread terrorism and create communal rivalry and division in Kerala. The NIA stated that a detailed investigation into the case is in progress and that more information will be released soon.
