KASARAGOD: The Kerala Central University, Kasaragod has undertaken a significant revision of its curriculum in alignment with the new National Education Policy. This marks the first instance of a university curriculum being revised in Kerala.
The implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has already brought about the adoption of several key features, including the Multiple Entry and Exit System (MEES), Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), Internship, and Vocational Skill Courses.
In accordance with the NEP 2020, students who complete one year of a postgraduate course will be awarded a Diploma certificate. Furthermore, those students who discontinue their studies after one year can return and complete the course within four years.
The option to choose any other university or college for internships has been made available, and completing an internship has become mandatory for course completion.
As part of the curriculum, students are encouraged to take accredited online courses and pursue studies at other universities or colleges.
The Kerala Central University officials have announced the commencement of four-year degree programs from this academic year, in line with the National Education Policy. The School of Education and School of Global Studies will be among the first to initiate these four-year courses, and the university is considering the introduction of multidisciplinary graduate courses involving multiple departments.
Through the implementation of the NEP, students are expected to gain increased exposure and access to global opportunities.
The university has also announced its plans to commence construction works amounting to Rs 70 crore soon, aimed at infrastructure development.
