THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Aranmula mirror, popularly known as Aranmula Kannadi, is famous for its uniqueness. The Aranmula mirror is a handmade metal-alloy mirror, unlike the usual glass mirrors. Several domestic and foreign tourists are arriving in the village of Aranmula in Kerala to learn about and purchase the Aranmula Kannadi.
A team from Korea has arrived to depict the history and significance of the Aranmula mirror. Aranmula is one of the two locations where they planned to shoot in India. The team’s aim was to document a video documentary on the main traditional handicrafts of Asia. The video shooting took place at P Gopakumar’s Aditi Handicrafts center in Aranmula. The Korean team came to know about this Aranmula mirror from a video documentary directed by J Prasad.
The Korean team has also decided to make a documentary on the legacy of sitar-making from Miraj, Maharashtra. Lee Chong Hoi is the director of this documentary.
