THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police are preparing to file charges under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) against the accused involved in a tragic incident where a student was killed after being hit by a bike in Muvattupuzha.
The accident occurred in front of Nirmala College, resulting in the death of R Namitha (20), a BCom student and daughter of Rakhu and Girija. Her friend, Anusre Raj (20), also suffered injuries in the incident. The bike, ridden by Anson Roy, a native of Enanalloor, hit the students as they were crossing the road.
As per the police report, the accident was caused by rash and negligent driving. The accused in the case Anson Roy is currently receiving treatment at a nearby private hospital.
Following the accident, students protested, with those from Nirmala College gathering in front of the hospital. It took several hours for the authorities, including the police and teachers, to convince them to calm down.
