THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: During a surprise inspection conducted by the Excise Department in Thiruvananthapuram, a case of MDMA peddling was uncovered. Arun, a resident of Vellayani, was apprehended while carrying 4.207 grams of MDMA. The arrest took place when he was transporting the illegal substance in a pick-up auto. Accompanying individuals managed to flee the scene.

The Excise Department revealed that the accused has been involved in the illicit drug trade, particularly targeting school students in Thiruvananthapuram district. Thiruvananthapuram Excise Circle Inspector Shiju led the team responsible for apprehending the suspect.

The state has witnessed numerous complaints about drug sellers specifically targeting school students. Reports indicate that the rise in drug usage among youngsters has also contributed to an increase in violence.

In response, the Excise Department is urging parents and teachers to remain vigilant, raise awareness among students, and empower them to courageously report any information regarding drug usage to their teachers.
