THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to the Save University Campaign, the Kerala State Higher Education Minister R Bindu has been accused of dishonesty regarding the appointment of the Principal at Kerala Varma College, Thrissur. The campaign alleges that the Minister’s denial of having served as the college’s principal is a deliberate falsehood.
The Save University Campaign asserts that their investigation of Kerala Varma College’s official website and the college’s principal list reveals the name of Minister R Bindu listed as the principal.
According to their findings, Minister R Bindu worked as the principal from November 13, 2020, until March 10, 2021. This appointment took place when she was the vice-principal, and she stepped in as the principal-in-charge to fill the vacancy left by Dr. Jayadevan, the former principal.

However, the Save University Campaign raises concerns about the appointment process, alleging that R Bindu’s appointment as principal-in-charge did not adhere to the university’s guidelines for appointing principals.
During a press conference, news reporters questioned the Minister’s role in delaying the appointment of the principal, given that she had served as the principal-in-charge at the time. The Minister denied ever having worked as the principal, contrary to the campaign’s assertions.
The Save University Campaign rejects the Minister’s statement and insists that their evidence demonstrates she did indeed serve as the principal of Kerala Varma College during the specified period.
