THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AK Balan, member of the CPI (M) central committee, has voiced strong criticism against the Nair Service Society (NSS) General Secretary, G Sukumaran Nair. The NSS had expressed their reaction to the statements made by Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker A. N. Shamseer, which were perceived as being filled with hatred.
Balan, however, berated G Sukumaran Nair, asserting that Nair should have thoroughly understood the context of the speaker’s remarks before reacting. Balan went on to label Sukumaran Nair’s mindset as depraved and suggested that Sukumaran Nair owes an apology to Shamseer.
Balan further accused the BJP and Sangh Parivar of promoting casteism without comprehending the full extent of the speaker’s words. Balan disapproved of community organizations engaging in such actions and suggested that Sukumaran Nair’s reaction might indicate a bias towards the BJP and Sangh Parivar.
Balan emphasized the need for a modern education system based on science, rather than propagating myths. To support Shamseer in the issue, Balan said that Shamseer has never made any harmful or derogatory remarks about any religious beliefs.
Additionally, Balan linked the NSS General Secretary’s current stance to previous instances where believers were discouraged from voting for Communists during elections, implying a continuation of misguided thinking.
Again A.K. Balan said that it is not Speaker Shamseer who should apologize, but G Sukumaran Nair, for reacting without fully understanding the speaker’s statements.
