THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : BJP Kerala State President K Surendran strongly criticized the state government’s police action.
K Surendran asserted that the police have filed a case against the Namapajapa Yatra (peaceful mantra chant procession) organized by the Nair Service Society (NSS) in Thiruvananthapuram.
Surendran strongly asserted that prosecuting a perfectly peaceful protest is unacceptable. He criticized the state government, alleging that it is intentionally trying to create provocation and religious polarization in Kerala.
Expressing his concern, Surendran pointed out the apparent inconsistency in the government’s approach, mentioning that while no action has been taken against Shamseer, who made the controversial statements, the NSS, which protested peacefully, has faced legal action.
He accused the government of challenging the beliefs of the people and behaving in an arrogant manner. Additionally, Surendran reminded of the mistakes made during the Sabarimala issue, urging them not to repeat them.
In response to the police filing the case against the Namapajapa Yatra, the BJP is gearing up for a state-wide strike as a form of protest. A protest is scheduled to be organized to the secretariat at 5.30 pm today.
The Cantonment Police have registered a case against thousands of devotees who participated in the Namajapa Yatra in Thiruvananthapuram.
