THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala’s State Transport Minister, Antony Raju, has announced that Learner’s Licences will be integrated into Plus Two studies across the state’s educational curriculum. As part of a drive to foster road safety consciousness among students, traffic laws and safety regulations will be incorporated into the higher secondary syllabus, according to Minister Antony Raju.

The minister mentioned that textbooks were developed for Plus Two students, allowing those who successfully complete the course to acquire the learner’s license directly. They are not required to undergo the test conducted by the Regional Transport Office (RTO). These books have been submitted for approval to the Chief Minister and the Minister of Education.

The initiative aims to issue learner’s certificates alongside education certificates to those who successfully complete Plus Two in Kerala. Courses relevant to obtaining a Learner’s Licence, including Road Law and Traffic Law, will be integrated into both Plus One and Plus Two classes.

Minister Raju emphasized that integrating these subjects into the curriculum will instill an early awareness of traffic laws among children, contributing to the reduction of road accidents.

Currently, the textbooks are planned to be available in both Malayalam and English. The minister said that the objective of instilling road safety principles at a young age is to shape better citizens for the future.
