THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In response to allegations regarding the illegal acquisition of property, CPI (M) leader, Jaick C. Thomas, has vehemently defended himself, drawing a stark contrast between his ethical stance and the alleged corruption practices of Congress party members.

Thomas articulated his stance, asserting, ‘Unlike the Congress party members who have been mired in corruption and dubious wealth accumulation, I am resolute in my commitment to principled conduct.’ He went on to emphasize, ‘For those seeking clarity, I encourage them to investigate even amongst Congress party members in my hometown. My family has a business engagement dating back to my father’s entrepreneurial ventures on Kottayam TB Road since 1945. My father used to conduct business at a distance of 8 km from our house in Manarcadu.’

Addressing concerns about financial transparency, Jaick underlined, ‘Every minute aspect of my financial details and property holdings has been meticulously disclosed to the election commission report. The information submitted remains steadfastly consistent with my actual holdings.’

Expounding further, Jaick commented, ‘The ongoing debate stems largely from the valuation of the property where my current residence stands. This dwelling is an ancestral possession, having been within my family for generations. The property upon which my home rests was procured 92 years ago at a cost of Rs. 5 per cent.’

Then he said, ‘My father’s inability to read or write did not deter him from harboring a profound aspiration for the education of my brother and me. He spared no expense in ensuring our education, an investment that has propelled me to this juncture where I address the media today.’

In his spirited response, Jaick C. Thomas seeks to dispel doubts regarding his property acquisitions while reaffirming his commitment to a just and equitable path, setting himself apart from the graft allegations shadowing his political counterparts.”
