Thrissur: Unveiling a significant achievement under the Central government’s ‘Amrit Project’, the largest skywalk in Kerala has been officially inaugurated in Thrissur, offering a new pathway for the public. Minister K. Radhakrishnan led the inauguration of the circular skywalk, a collaborative endeavour supported by central funding. Strategically situated in the bustling hub of Shaktan Nagar, this skywalk interconnects the convergence of four major roads.
Ease of access to the skywalk is ensured through staircases in four distinct sections, encompassing the Shaktan bus stand vicinity, the fish market, the vegetable market, and the Shaktan Nagar ground. Notably, two lifts are also provided to assist the physically challenged.
Notably, Shaktan Nagar’s skywalk now stands as the largest of its kind in Kerala. Envisioned as a comprehensive solution to urban congestion and foot traffic issues, this project’s implementation holds the promise of transforming the cityscape. As part of the project’s second phase, additional features such as two lifts, a solar energy system, full glass cladding coverage, and air conditioning will further enhance the skywalk’s facilities.
