Thrissur: In a shocking incident in the morning hours of Thursday, a 22 year engineering student lost her life as stalker set her on fire.The deceased is a student of Kodakara Axis Engineering College. Neethu, residing near post office at Chiyyaram in Thrissur district,was attacked and burnt to death by Nitheesh,a resident of Vadakkekkad.
Nitheesh entered her home at seven in the morning and had a heated argument with Neethu. He then poured petrol over her and set her ablaze.The accused tried to escape from the spot but the locals detained and handed him over to police. Nitheesh is under police custody and the probe is underway.
Last month, in a similar incident, a spurned lover had murdered a girl by setting her on fire near Chilanga Junction at Thiruvalla. The repeated incidents of crimes point the finger at the crippled law and order in the state.
