Ernakulam : In an unconventional display of dissent, employees of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in Ernakulam have embarked on a distinctive form of protest against the delay in salary payments. The workers are marching by wearing dhotis around their head and rallying for the rightful distribution of last month’s salary and the benefits corresponding to the festive occasions of Onam.

Protest led by the KST Employees Organisation (BMS) in Aluva, serves as a vivid symbol of the employees’ frustration regarding the alleged withholding of their due wages. The employees’ march to the district office of KSRTC has garnered attention due to its unique nature and the vocal demands it represents.

The protest event saw participation from a multitude of employees who wrapped dhotis around their heads, creating a visible and striking statement. The initiative seeks not only timely salary disbursement but also the fair allocation of benefits related to the festivities of both the previous and current Onam seasons.

Inaugurating the protest, BMS State Secretary PK Baiju echoed the collective sentiment of the employees and demanded an end to what they perceive as a demeaning treatment of KSRTC and its workforce by both the government and the corporation. The employees’ grievances encompass the broader societal recognition and respect that they believe should be extended to their contributions.

Several dignitaries, including BMS District Joint Secretary VK Anil Kumar, State Secretary MR Ramesh Kumar, as well as KS Sabin, G Muralikrishnan, CN Sudhesh, and TB Sudheer, addressed the gathering, reinforcing the importance of their demands and the significance of their protest action.
