Thiruvananthapuram: The prospect of rain looms large over Kerala once again, as the Central Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for potential widespread rainfall in the state today. According to meteorological experts, Kerala is projected to experience rainy conditions over the next five days, driven by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
The area of concern centres on a depression located in the northwest region of the Bay of Bengal, extending towards the West Bengal-North Odisha coast. The Central Meteorological Department highlights the likelihood of a low-pressure system moving in a north-westerly direction through North Odisha and North Chhattisgarh in the forthcoming days. This atmospheric setup is anticipated to result in moderate rainfall across Kerala for the upcoming five-day period.
As part of the current weather patterns, wind gusts reaching speeds of up to 65 kmph are expected in the south-western region of the Bay of Bengal, adjacent to the Sri Lankan coastline. In view of this meteorological condition, fishing activities have been prohibited in this particular zone to ensure the safety of marine endeavours.
