Alappuzha: A voice recording of CPI(M) Local Committee Secretary of Kanjikuzhi, Hebin Das, has surfaced, in which he is heard threatening a Narcotic Cell officer. In the call recording the communist leader is heard using abusive language and threatening Grade Senior Civil Police Officer, KS Shine.
In the phone call it is understood that Shine and other police officers had caught a group of young guys and minor girls who were gathering at an abandoned area near Kanjikuzhi Block junction. They were questioned and let off. However, some of the youths returned and misbehaved with the police. This was reported to the Mararikulam Sub Inspector.
One of the youths who took the minor girls to the abandoned area is the son of the of the communist leader’s brother. His phone was confiscated by the SI which angered the CPI(M) local committee secretary, Hebin Das.
According to reports Hebin Das called by the Civil Police officer, KS Shine, and threatened him for confiscating the mobile phone. He also ordered the officer to let his relative off the hook. Hebin is heard intimidating the officer by saying not to meddle in unnecessary things and said that he will handle him once he gets there.
The police had caught the group of young guys and minor girls after they got a tip off that young people were gathering in the remote area. Though the incident occurred a month ago it is only now that the call recording has surfaced.
