Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalee artist, Maniilal Sabarimala, has created a world record by depicting 10,000 forms of Lord Ganapathy on a single canvas. He prepared the grand Lord Ganapathy’s ten thousand forms on a 17×5 feet canvas and used a micro pen to create the awe inspiring work of art.
Earlier, Maniilal Sabarimala, had created a drawing which encompassed 4,500 forms of the Lord Ganesha. The artist, immensely inspired by the myriad forms of Lord Ganapathy had also drawn the forms of the lord in pen sketches in addition to color paintings.
Manilal took one month to complete the drawing spending seven to eight hours daily for this work. The sixty-year-old artist’s style, who had travelled widely in search of great works of art, was greatly transformed by his deep faith in Lord Ganapthy.
The artist observed that Lord Ganapathy has a variety of inspiring forms fit for an artist’s inspiration. No other deities have this much myriad forms that evoke deep emotions.
Maniilal had been working as biology teacher in Bhutan for eleven years. He resigned from his job and began spending more time to his artistic expressions. He is now getting ready to create a grandiose work of art with 20,000 forms of Lord Ganapathy in one single frame.
The official announcement of his work on 10,000 forms of the lord will take place at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club in the coming day. The meeting will be attended by representatives of the Universal Record Forum (URF). Surya Krishnamurthy will be the chief guest at the function.
According to a report, Maniilal who is a graduate in Biology, did his B.Ed from Bengaluru and landed in a teaching job in Bhutan in 1988. He did his Bachelor in Fine Arts and Masters from Mysore University, where he was able to interact with renowned artists.
He returned to Kerala in 2009 and began an organization called ‘Anokhii’ to help organize painting exhibitions of artists from India and abroad, said a report.
He is married to Dr. Rani and they are currently settled in Payyanur.
