Thiruvananthapuram: Despite the financial crisis in the state, the finance department has sanctioned money for the maintenance of the swimming pool at Cliff House, the residence of the Chief Minister. An amount of more than four lakhs has been allocated for the fifth phase of the swimming pool maintenance. The Department of Tourism has assigned the responsibility of the proper maintenance of the swimming pool to the Urallungal Labour Society.
While Kerala is facing severe financial crisis, the finance department has sanctioned funds to maintain the swimming pool at Cliff House. Rs 4,03,383/- has been sanctioned for this purpose. According to the estimate given earlier, the maintenance contract has been given to Urallungal Labour Society. Public Works Department and Tourism Department would ensure that the works are completed.
The amount for the maintenance of the pond was sanctioned earlier also in a similar manner, in 2022. In the state, the finance department has imposed financial control in many areas. KSRTC has not even started paying salaries to the employees. In the context of this ongoing crisis, the argument that the finance department is unnecessarily misusing the available funds is also being raised.
