Ernakulam: The Kerala High Court has expressed its dissatisfaction with the ongoing construction of the CPI(M) office in Shanthanpara, Idukki, which is in clear defiance of a court-issued order. The amicus curiae, appointed to assist the court, has informed the judiciary of the fact that the construction persists despite the court’s injunction. In response, the court has openly expressed its displeasure over this matter. Furthermore, the court has instructed the government prosecutor to appear and address the situation.
The Revenue Department has taken action by issuing a formal notice to the CPI(M), instructing them to immediately halt the construction work. The notice was officially released by LR Tehsildar Udumbanchola, acting in accordance with the Collector’s directives as mandated by the court. Following the receipt of this notice, the construction activities promptly ceased.
It should be noted that the Court had previously ordered a halt to the construction of the CPI(M) office building due to the absence of the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Revenue Department. Despite this explicit directive, the CPI(M) persisted in their construction activities, even working through the night until four in the morning of the following day. The CPI(M)’s justification for defying the court order was their claim of not having received any directive from either the court or the collector mandating the cessation of their work.
