Facebook post in praise of Narendra Modi; Pinarayi govt blocks pay hike of police officer for his post

Erumeli: The Kerala Police have initiated disciplinary measures against a police officer who posted commendations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a social media platform. As a consequence, Senior Officer Seini Sebastian from Changanassery Police Station will have his three-year annual salary increment withheld.

The District Police Chief, K K Karthik, got angered over the Facebook post made by Senior Officer Seini Sebastian of Changanassery Police Station, in which praise was directed towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government. The rationale behind the measures taken by the district police chief is that such actions are against regulations and have led to the humiliation of other political parties.

The Kerala Police has taken this measure in response to a post that expressed support for the central government, which was made following the results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the results of five states in 2022. In contrast, numerous police officers within the state had previously posted commendations of Pinarayi Vijayan without any corresponding repercussions or actions taken against any officers.
