Thiruvananthapuram gears up for ODI Cricket World Cup warm-up matches

Thiruvananthapuram: Cricket enthusiasts in Thiruvananthapuram are in for an exciting treat as the city prepares to host warm-up matches for the upcoming ODI Cricket World Cup. The bustling cricket fever is set to peak on October 3rd as the Kariyavattom Sports Hub becomes the stage for a thrilling warm-up match between India and the Netherlands. This encounter marks India’s second warm-up game before the commencement of the ODI World Cup.

The cricket extravaganza is set to kick off with India’s first warm-up match scheduled in Guwahati on September 30th, where they will face off against England. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the warm-up matches will begin at 2 p.m., igniting excitement among fans who are eager to witness their favourite teams in action before the main tournament.

Notably, the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram will be a key venue for several matches during the warm-up phase. A series of captivating contests are lined up, including South Africa versus Afghanistan on September 29th, Australia taking on the Netherlands on September 30th, and a clash between New Zealand and South Africa on October 2nd. The stretch from September 29th to October 3rd will be abuzz with thrilling encounters, setting the stage for the grand ODI World Cup.

The ODI World Cup, hosted by India, is scheduled to commence on October 5th. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will witness the opening and final matche of the tournament. Over the course of 46 days, cricket enthusiasts can look forward to a total of 48 matches, including three knockout fixtures, as teams from around the world vie for the coveted championship title.
