Alappuzha: In response to growing sectarianism within the party, the Alappuzha CPI(M) has initiated a series of disciplinary actions. KS Ajith, a member of the CPI(M) Kuttandu Area Committee, has been expelled from the party due to his alleged involvement in promoting sectarian activities. Similarly, Rajendra Kumar, the President of Ramankari Panchayat, has faced action for his suspected role in fueling such divisive activities. Rajendra Kumar has been stripped of his positions as the General Secretary of the Travancore Farmers Workers Union and the District Joint Secretary of KSKTU.
Taking up the role of General Secretary for the Farmers Workers Union is Jose Thomas. He leads the opposition faction aligned with Minister Saji Cheriayan, recognised as the official side of Alappuzha CPI(M). To counter the intensifying sectarian activities, the District Secretariat has also issued directives to address the issue at the local levels and take necessary actions against those implicated in these divisive actions.
