Ernakulam: The ongoing investigation into the Karuvannur Sahakana Bank fraud case took a new turn today as former minister AC Moideen informed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of his inability to appear for questioning in connection with the benami transaction. Moideen’s decision has sparked further interest in the case, which has already ensnared several prominent figures in alleged fraudulent activities.
The ED had issued a summons to AC Moideen, requesting his presence for questioning today. However, the former minister responded by citing inconvenience and communicating his intention to appear on an alternate day. This development has prompted the ED to announce its intention to issue a fresh notice to Moideen, ensuring that the investigation does not lose momentum.
Meanwhile, the net of suspicion continues to tighten around various individuals allegedly involved in the Benami transactions. The former manager of Karuvannur Sahakana Bank, Biju Karim, along with individuals PP Kiran and Anil Sett, have been summoned again for further questioning. Additionally, C.M Rahim, who has been under scrutiny in connection with the case, is scheduled to undergo questioning today. Notably, Biju Karim, PP Kiran, and Anil Seth were interrogated yesterday as well.
Last week, the ED conducted raids at the residence of AC Moideen. Moideen’s willingness to undergo ED interrogation during the Puduppally elections suggests a resolute stance, despite the potential political backlash. The raid at his residence reportedly included scrutiny of the accounts held by Moideen’s wife and daughter. Subsequently, the ED issued a notice to both his wife and daughter, summoning them for questioning in connection with the ongoing investigation.
