Kozhikode: A report said that a woman from Kannur, Afseena (29), has been arrested for aiding in the gang rape of a girl. Afseena lured the girl to an apartment in Kozhikode with the promise of giving her opportunity to act in movies. The victim was raped by Afseena’s friend, Shameer, and Malappuram residents Abubacker and Saidavali at the apartment.
The report said that Afseena and Shameer later threatened both the other co-accused by saying that they would report the crime to the police. Then Afseena and Shameer urged the girl to submit a complaint at Nadakkavu Police station about the sexual assault. However, the police investigation revealed Afseena’s role in the crime and arrested her.
The police had also apprehended Abubacker and Saidavali from a resort at Kudaku. Shameer who had given support to the accused for gang raping the victim is also in police custody.
The victim is a resident of Kottayam and was working in Kannur, when she was befriended by Afseena. Kozhikode Town police Assistant Commissioner, Bijuraj, and his team arrested Afseena.
